Minimalist Fall Capsule Wardrobe
Do you see that in the forecast? It looks like fall! Fall is my favorite time of the year. It's cooler, but not bitterly cold, the leaves change turn my favorite color (orange), and oh, my birthday is in the fall! And this year, my fall capsule wardrobe is the smallest it has ever been. Just 21 items.

How to Minimize Seasonal and Holiday Decor
I love decorating for every holiday and every season just as much as the next over-zealous mom out there. Sometimes I forget what the holidays are really about. I even forget about why I decorate for them in the first place. In an effort to be less of a consumer for every holiday (thanks Hallmark) and continue our minimalism journey, I discarded 2/3 of my decor. In this post I'm going to share with you the why and how to minimize your holiday and seasonal decor.

The 4 Principles of Frugal Living
We are frugal minimalists here at Hello Brownlow. So it's no surprise that I'm on a "frugal living kick" here lately. We had an influx of spending money (home renovations, medical bills, etc) and need to even our budget back out. A no spend month and buying less all together is a great way to keep spending in check. Frugality and minimalism intersect at this point: buy less. With buying less, you'll often find you are using the four main principles of frugal living: use it up, wear it out, make do, do without.

My Capsule Wardrobe Challenge Review
In the month of May, I attempted a 10 items for 30 days capsule wardrobe challenge. I must admit that I was moderately successful! But it is also harder than it looks. I learned a lot and defined my style.

6 Tips to Declutter When You Feel Overwhelmed
One of the most asked questions I see in my comments, on Facebook, or on other blogs is "How do I start decluttering when I feel so overwhelmed by it all?". I've been there too. I have been overwhelmed and exhausted and just completely over the mess and clutter in my house. I get it.

I was able to accomplish that, but there was some decluttering guilt leftover. I want to put into context for you just how much was stored in the attic. I’ll round the number down to 100 to make it even. One hundred boxes came down from that hot, dusty attic. Guess how many were mine! If you read about my stuff addiction, you’ll know that I really like my stuff as a kid. So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that…

10 Items for 30 Days Capsule Wardrobe Challenge
Here I am again talking about a capsule wardrobe, a capsule wardrobe challenge, and discarding clothes. Clothing is something we wear every single day. Whether we like it or not, we have to make decisions on what to put on our bodies. Capsule wardrobes make things easier and more simple.

Hi, I’m Amanda and I’m Addicted to Stuff – the Struggles of a Frugal Minimalist
Hi, I’m Amanda and I’m addicted to stuff. Yeah, stuff like clothes, toys for my son, and dinner plates. That kind of stuff. I love stuff a little too much sometimes. It’s the thrill of bringing home something new or new to me. Free or not, I like it. I do call myself a frugal minimalist but I struggle hard. There are points during almost every month where I struggle in the decision to bring something new into our home or not. With frugal minimalism, I want things because I know that they have the potential to bring value into my life. But at the same time I have to…

How We Feel Secure with Owning Less
Some people have the mentality of "the more I own, the better off I am". While that could be true in the event of a disaster, owning more doesn't make you better off... or happier. With our journey into minimalism well under way, our minimalist life makes me feel better and more efficient now than I did owning more. While I still struggle sometimes with bringing new (or new-to-us) items into our home. However, I am more confident in my ability to live minimally - even if I do have to remind myself of it.
