I love Amazon Prime! That’s why when Amazon Prime Day is announced (July 15-16 2019) I plan ahead. But, shouldn’t a money-saving-minimalist not purchase anything on Prime Day? The answer is yes and no.
While there are great deals to be had on Amazon, there are a few things to keep in mind before you get too click-happy. Buyer’s remorse can set in hard over the next few days. Plan carefully and you won’t regret a thing!
I participate in Amazon Affiliate’s Program. If you click a link and make a purchase, I will receive a small commission at no additional charge to you. It’s how we keep Hello Brownlow running!
Prime Membership Required
I love all that the Amazon Prime membership offers – music, TV and movies, plus free shipping and great deals – but I tried it before I made the leap into a full year-long membership. You have the opportunity if you are not already a Prime member to do a FREE 30 day trial. It is worth setting up the trial for what you get in return (even if you do only use it for 30 days and cancel).
You can sign up for your FREE 30 day trial HERE.
Get the 72 Hour List Ready
Hopefully you’ve been using my handy 72 Hour List printable. If not, no worries! You can visit my post about it and start RIGHT NOW!
Carefully list out what you have thought about purchasing. When Prime Day arrives, you’ll have your list in-hand and won’t be tempted to make an impulse purchase.
If you really want to make sure that the price is as low as it goes, check Camel Camel Camel. Just copy the product description from Amazon and paste it into the search bar on their site. It comes back with historical pricing.
This tool is so handy when it comes to making any purchase on Amazon (not just Amazon Prime Day deals).
When browsing through all the Amazon Prime Day deals this year, think about how much you will actually use each item you put into your cart. Do you really need that pair of super cute boots? Or do you really need another Kindle?
If you can’t fully picture the item in your home and the very specific use the item has, you probably shouldn’t buy it. This is where your 72 hour list will hold you accountable. So even if you do add those boots to your cart, a second check of the list will make you think twice.

Without further blabbering, I’m excited to share with you the deals that I find are the BEST Amazon Prime Day Deals for 2019.
These items fit will fit into several categories:
- Useful or multi-purpose
- Eco-friendly and designed to reduce waste
- Suitable to a small capsule wardrobe
Keep this page handy, or better yet, pin it to Pinterest! I’ll be updating this page with the best deals for Amazon Prime Day 2019.
Instant Pot with Wifi
WHAT IS THIS MAGIC?! This Instant Pot has WiFi and comes with an Amazon Echo Dot. That means you can make super delicious meals with your voice. Just a little prep work on your end is required.
If you don’t have an Instant Pot, I suggest that you hop on this deal! It is 55% off at just $89. That’s a super deal especially for this new version.
I bought Dan a Kindle Paperwhite for his birthday two weeks ago and he LOVES it. I paid at least $15 more for this same model (lesson learned).
If you’re a bookworm, like to travel a lot, or just looking for a way to minimize clutter I highly recommend a Kindle. The Paperwhite version is easier on your eyes and you can read in the dark with no additional light. It’s pretty awesome.
The Melissa & Doug toys are all so well made. I love them for our Little Guy because they are all simple in design and built to last.
This is just an example of on of the toys on sale during Amazon Prime Day 2019. There are loads of puzzles, cars, and other toy sets on sale as well. Even on Black Friday prices aren’t this good!
23andMe DNA Test
A DNA test is something you can use yourself for ancestry testing or health testing, or you can give it to a loved one for the same reasons. It would make a great gift for anyone that has a birthday coming up (or save it for Christmas).
So hear me out on this one… I have this same flat iron and love it. It sounds like a super junky, low-quality brand but it isn’t! My flat iron works so well that I use it every single day. It replaced my old Chi flat iron and my curling iron. One is better than two in this case!
Plus it’s $10 off!
AmazonBasics Enameled Cast Iron Covered Casserole Skillet
This beauty of a skillet needs to be in your kitchen. If you’ve been looking for a do-all piece of cookware, this is it. The drool-worthy red will look good for years to come and impress friends when they come over for dinner.
The AmazonBasics brand is really spectacular if you are skeptical. We have several AmazonBasics items and they have held up really well (probably better than anything we would have bought at Target or Walmart).
For $35, this is a steal!
AmazonBasics LED Light Bulbs
Another great AmazonBasics find! We have LED bulbs throughout our entire house and it is worth the investment. Our family never worries about buying replacement bulbs or changing out bulbs when they burn out (because LED bulbs last a long time).
They are more environmentally friendly than regular bulbs and less work for your in the long run.
TVs and Other Electronics
Of course, there are always great deals on TVs and such during Amazon Prime Day. I’m not going to list them individually because 1) there are too many and 2) do you really need a TV for every room of your house?
If you need a TV or are going off to school, these deals are for you. This TV from Toshiba already has Amazon Fire built into it for seamless integration. And for $304 with free shipping, it’s a good deal.
Jeans, Jeans, and More Jeans!
Jeans are a staple in most capsule wardrobes (like in mine). There are great deals of at least 30% on designer jeans. Mine lasted for years before they finally wore out beyond mending.
My Under Armor shirts are my absolute favorite. They wick moisture wonderfully and don’t stink. I’ve worn them everywhere from Washington DC to Yellowstone to Belize. I love them so much that I’m purchasing at least two more…
